MarginScout – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
MarginScout is a Chrome extension for eBay sellers. It helps you find products on AliExpress and Amazon, compare them with eBay, work out the profit, list products on your own eBay account, and keep your orders in your own Google Sheet. This page explains what data MarginScout uses and why.
1. What MarginScout uses
- Licence information. Your licence key, a random ID made for your computer (not linked to your name), the extension version and the time of use are sent to the MarginScout server to check that your licence is valid. When you buy a licence we keep the name, phone number and/or email you give us, to manage the licence and contact you.
- Product pages you open. On AliExpress, Amazon and eBay product pages MarginScout reads the product title, price, photos, options and item details shown on the page, to compare prices and to prepare a listing. Searches and photos are sent through the MarginScout server to eBay's search service. Saved products stay in your browser.
- Your eBay account (only if you connect it). When you connect eBay, eBay gives MarginScout a login token. It is kept on the MarginScout server, only for your licence, and is used only for actions you start in MarginScout: creating and editing your listings, uploading listing photos, reading your listings and business policies, and Promoted Listings ads. MarginScout never sees your eBay password and has no access to your money, payouts or account settings.
- Clipboard (address paster). Only when you press the paster button, MarginScout reads the address you copied and fills it into the checkout form on the page. The address is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Orders (Google Sheets). If you use order tracking, order details (such as order number, status, item and buyer address) are written to your own Google Sheet through your own Google account or Apps Script. MarginScout does not keep a copy.
- Exchange rates and price history are read from public services (exchange-rate APIs, Keepa graphs). No personal data is sent to them.
2. What MarginScout does not do
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- We do not track the websites you visit. MarginScout works only on the shopping and selling sites it is made for.
- Data is used only to provide the features you use, in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
3. Where data is kept
Settings, saved products and history are stored in your own browser. Licence records and connected eBay tokens are stored on our server (Cloudflare). Order data is stored in your own Google Sheet.
4. Your choices
- Disconnect eBay at any time in MarginScout (the token is deleted), or remove MarginScout in your eBay account under third-party app access.
- Uninstall the extension to remove the data stored in your browser.
- Ask us to delete your licence record at any time.
